APRIL is SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH

April presents an opportunity for our communities to focus on sexual assault by raising awareness and providing education through special events while highlighting sexual assault as a major public health issue and reinforcing the need for prevention efforts.

April is also an opportunity to highlight the efforts of individuals and organizations that provide assistance and support to sexual assault survivors, their families and the community. These efforts include crisis intervention, advocacy navigating medical & legal systems to ensure appropriate care, the coordination of sensitivity training for professionals and outreach programs to elementary schools, colleges and universities.
