1in6 Thursday: Passion for Change

Is the 1in6 Board bored?  Hardly!

Are they committed, engaged, passionate?  Absolutely!

Having been an executive director in the non-profit field for the past 27 years, I can say with certainty that I've worked for the best boards anyone could hope to work for, and the current 1in6 board is no exception to that fact.

We meet four times each year as a group, with our next meeting this June in Upstate, New York.  Additionally, each board member commits to giving and getting financial support to underwrite our work and serves on committees like the executive committee, the digital asset committee and the legal committee, to name only a few.

Having just had the agenda for the June meeting approved it reminded me of the great value that each board member brings to our work.  If you'll indulge me, I'd like to share some of each board members expertise and how it drives the work of 1in6.

Indrajit Bardhan helps form, articulate and implement the strategic plan for 1in6 so that we will be serving men and their loved ones far in to the future.  Patti Giggans, an executive director with Peace Over Violence for more than 30 years is a constant reminder of the hard work that has gone on before us and has linked us with many of our current strategic partners.  Kathy and Greg LeMond, founding 1in6 board members, have used their celebrity and resources to help us bring the message of 1in6 front and center, unapologetically, proudly.  Greg Light, has used his exceptional business acumen as we plan our financial future, including producing several 1in6 fundraising events.  David Lisak, our board chair and recognized leader in the field is the glue that keeps all of us together, focused and on mission.  Marshal McNiven, our newest board member, has added a deeper understanding of our digital assets and how the leveraging of our technology will allow us to serve more men and their loved ones in ways that we could never imagined.  And Cam Tredennick, a co-founder of 1in6 is ever reminding all of us of the value of each man's experience and the need to honor and protect that.

You can read more about each board member and our exceptional advisory board members on our website.

Is the 1in6 staff bored?  Hardly!

Are they committed, engaged and passionate?  Absolutely!

I'll tell you more about their efforts on my next blog post.
