Nalani Holliday, owner/buyer of Red Pineapple in Ward Centre, has been a longtime supporter of Joyful Heart Foundation. It’s a not for profit organization founded by actress Mariska Hargitay, who plays Detective Olivia Benson on the popular TV series, “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.”

Joyful Heart Foundation’s mission is to  empower victims of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence. Their treatments engage  mind, body and spirit to help the victims heal. Among the activities Joyful Heart funds is a Big Island retreat that includes a swim with dolphins. From its earliest days, Joyful Heart has been closely tied to Hawaii. Nalani had been involved with the organization for many years.

In conjunction with Joyful Heart’s  first Hawaii fundraiser, on August 29, Red Pineapple will donate a portion of sales all day long to Joyful Heart.  The store will also celebrate with iced tea all day, wine and cheese during happy hour and gifts with purchases over $200.00. Much of the NY staff of the Foundation will be in the store so it’s an ideal opportunity to meet them and learn more about the organization. There will be information about the work done nationally and in Hawaii in the store.

Come learn how you can be involved and give back.
