Public Launch: NO MORE Day
On March 13, 2013, as part of NO MORE officially launched in Washington, DC. Joyful Heart was present as Vice President Biden and Attorney General Holder announced new, critical funding for the reduction of domestic homicides.
Our founder, Mariska Hargitay, called on the nation’s preeminent journalists to shed light on violence against women, to “press” this issue into the public’s consciousness when she spoke at the National Press Club. Twilight star Ashley Greene joined representatives from NO MORE to share new Avon Foundation-sponsored research with Congress about the prevalence and perceptions of teen dating abuse. Washington Wizards fans made their voices heard in support of NO MORE at a game dedicated to the movement. And hundreds of thousands of people were engaged, lending their voices on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Thunderclap and our live blog from the day.
The reach of NO MORE day was immense. More than 200 million media impressions were generated, while millions more were reached by social media.
