These intimate gatherings in communities across the country are breaking the silence and deepening people’s understanding about sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. Although TALK STORY is a local term in Hawai‘i, its meaning—to gather for discussion—is universal. Joyful Heart’s TALK series has reached people from Honolulu to Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., exploring various aspects of violence and our response to these issues: gender oppression, campus rape, modeling healthy masculinity, the role men have in ending violence against women, how we can dismantle the myths and excuses surrounding these issues, and so much more.
