Help Joyful Heart Win $500,000!

April 21, 2011 | BY Maile Zambuto | FILED UNDER JHF BLOG >

Dear Joyful Heart Community,

Starting today, Joyful Heart is participating in the Chase Community Giving competition. This is an incredible program that allows Facebook users to vote for organizations and ideas that matter most to them. It represents a chance for Joyful Heart to continue helping our community of survivors, healers and supporters in a huge way—the winning organization receives a $500,000 grant.

Last year, Joyful Heart was awarded a $250,000 through the Pepsi Refresh Project due to the overwhelming support of our online community. We used this funding to produce, print and distribute our magazine, Reunion, an initiative that has touched tens of thousands of lives and shed much-needed light into the darkness that surrounds sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse.

The Chase Community Giving program represents a new opportunity for us to make a difference in the lives of thousands of people affected by these issues. But just like last time, we won’t be able to do it without you. The first round of voting for Chase Community Giving lasts from April 21 to May 4. The top 100 organizations from this round will win $25,000 and the chance to move on to Round 2, with awards up to $500,000 on the line. Will you join our effort? Here’s what you can do:

  1. Vote for JHF by giving access to the Chase Community Giving application on Facebook. Browse here to vote: www.tinyurl.com/votejoy. Unlike Pepsi, you only get to vote for JHF once. So once you've voted, please consider taking these additional steps.
  2. Share this link each day with your friends and family on Facebook and Twitter. Here’s one sample post to get you started: "I just voted for the Joyful Heart Foundation in Chase Community Giving. Joyful Heart’s mission is to heal, educate and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. Help them secure $500,000 from Chase Community Giving by visiting www.tinyurl.com/votejoy. Please repost!"
  3. Write an email to your friends, family, coworkers and network of support to let them know how easy it is to support Joyful Heart. Visit www.joyfulheartfoundation.org/chase for a sample letter.
  4. For others ways to raise awareness about this initiative and to download signs and icons, visit www.joyfulheartfoundation.org/chase.

Every night, I read through your words of support to each other and to Joyful Heart on our Facebook page. And every night, it fills my heart with warmth and appreciation for this beautiful and fearless community. I can’t think of a better way to welcome others into this community and share our joy.

With the deepest gratitude,
