My Moment of Gratitude
There are moments that fill you with immense joy and gratitude—I want to share mine with you. It happened a couple months ago when the Joyful Heart Foundation experienced what I call “a magnificent milestone.”
For ten years, I have worked alongside Mariska to help her realize her dream of creating a foundation that will heal, educate and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. We’ve reached a remarkable point in our growth and a critical point in the movement. We're meeting this moment—shining our beacon of light and influence.
My moment came on October 15—a truly historic day for Joyful Heart. We were cited as an authority in the editorial section of The New York Times for our work to end the national backlog of untested rape kits. And that’s not all. The same day, USA Today published a story about Joyful Heart’s work on the groundbreaking NO MORE PSA campaign. Reading these stories from my home in Los Angeles, I was beyond moved. It was exhilarating—my appreciation was immeasurable. Two national papers were talking about these issues and our work; it gave new meaning to our quest to turn up the volume and shed light into the darkness that surrounds domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.
I am deeply grateful for the collective work, dedication and support of everyone who brought Joyful Heart to this moment. Together we are taking the conversation about these issues to the forefront of public concern and transforming attitudes.
You can help us keep turning up the volume by donating now. Your gift today will benefit Joyful Heart’s work, including our education and awareness programs, which are changing the way that society talks about, thinks about and responds to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse.
Thank you for sharing in this moment—our moment—as we celebrate what we've been able to accomplish and look towards all that is left to do together.
With gratitude —
