Wellness Wednesday: Super Smoothie

Hi Friends,

I love a good smoothie on days when I need my sustenance to be portable. This one is a favorite around The Well Daily headquarters.

xoxo,

Sukey

What do you do when you're starving but barely have time to get where you're going, let alone prepare and eat a decent meal and give it a chance to digest? A nutrient-packed smoothie is the perfect solution. If you keep the right stash of ingredients at home, you can prepare a healthy, energizing smoothie in a flash.

As an added bonus for those who practice yoga, a smoothie for breakfast or lunch (or even dinner) will weigh you down less in class than a solid meal, making bhandas (locks) and balances surprisingly easy. The key is to avoid supplements like whey and protein powders, which can cause bloating. Instead, pack your smoothie with powerful antioxidants and mood-lifters like cacao powder and bee pollen.

The Well Wisdom: For our recipe, we added cacao to the smoothie, which has up to four times the amount of antioxidants found in green tea. Cacao also raises the level of serotonin in the brain, fighting depression and helping to elevate moods naturally.
