The event brought together members of our San Francisco Bay Area Committee to discuss Joyful Heart’s advocacy work and efforts to pass rape kit reform laws in California and across the country.
More than 150 guests joined the GenerationJOY committee and Joyful Heart staff on August 3 to celebrate the healing power of art at ART4JOY, an art show and auction. The event was held at the Manhattan office and rooftop garden of Cookfox Architects, who generously donated the event space.
Joyful Heart was honored to join leading domestic violence organizations in California in November 2016 to form a Learning Circle, convened by the Blue Shield of California Foundation. The Circle came together for six months of facilitated learning sessions to explore each organization's practices that lift up survivor-centered approaches with the purpose of producing a white paper for funders and the field at large.
On November 15, 2016, Joyful Heart Foundation’s GenerationJOY committee hosted its first TALK event. GenerationJOY is a group of next generation advocates committed to using their voices and resources to support Joyful Heart’s vision of a world free from sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse.
On December 1, 2016, 40 members of our tri-state-based community gathered at the home of Joyful Heart board member Sukey Novogratz and her husband, Mike, for a TALK event. Nancy Jo Sales, author of American Girls: Social Media and the Secret Lives of Teenagers, discussed how social media shapes and influences the minds and hearts of young girls, and its connection to violence against women.
Sukey started the program by welcoming the guests, including fellow board members Jessica Ambrose, Durk Barnhill, Mariska Hargitay, Danielle Herzlich, and Debbie Millman.
On Saturday, June 18th, the GenerationJOY Committee of the Joyful Heart Foundation partnered with SoulCycle for a Summer Kick-Off Ride in Bridgehampton, NY to support the foundation’s work to transform society’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse, support survivors’ healing, and end this violence forever.
In honor of Mother’s Day, next generation advocates Sophia Schrager, Ava Schrager, Emma Lasry, Ana Novogratz, and Gaby Novogratz hosted a Me&Ro shopping event on Sunday April 10th at the home of Rita Schrager to benefit the Joyful Heart Foundation’s transformative work.
Our December TALK event in New York City brought together members of our community with members of the sports community to discuss how to advance sports culture and engage men to end violence.
