Achey feet? Follow our 3-step plan and show your tootsies some love before flip flop weather hits!
Wellness Wednesday: Update Your Failure Resume
Thomas Edison failed a thousand times before he invented the lightbulb. "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" a reporter asked. "I didn’t fail 1,000 times," Edison responded. "The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps."
Living in a world full of risk and failure, it's inevitable that we'll come face-to-face with it; it's what we learn from confronting failure that matters most, which is why we love Tina Seelig's introduction of the idea on the failure resume.
Wellness Wednesday: Happy Videos
The Internet is great. My favorite resources are videos. If I don’t know something, I can quickly learn from an 18 minute presentation. A Google time-suck can uncover gems to make me smile, help me find tools and stoke my creativity, so don’t feel guilty; get lost in a video. There are so many good teachers waiting to find you.
Wellness Wednesday: Treat Your Skin to a Tumeric Mask
Turmeric, the vibrant spice that gives curries and mustards their yellow color, contains antioxidants, relieves joint pain and is known to ease digestion. Researchers now think it might even help treat cancer and Alzheimer's, making it a worthy addition to the spice rack of any health-conscious home cook. You might be surprised to learn, though, that turmeric also deserves a place in your skin care routine.
Wellness Wednesday: Be Good To Your Bones
Did you know that after around age 30, bone mass begins to diminish? And without proper care, our bones can become more brittle, which in many cases, can lead to bone disease. Make no bones about, maintaining bone health is just as important to our life as breathing is.
Wellness Wednesday: 6 Apps for a Smarter Life
Like most people we know, we find the daily e-junk overload to be a productivity buzzkill. With seven kids between us and a startup company to run, our gadgets need to work for us. The apps we use to manage our lives are all about navigating the constantly changing tech world, streamlining and working smarter.
Wellness Wednesday: Break Out Your Bike
Spring is finally getting close and we can’t wait to dust off our bikes and start peddling all over town. Aside from the fact that it’s good for the body and great for the planet, we love biking because it’s actually fun—it’s the workout that doesn’t feel like a workout! In preparation for the sunny days ahead, we’ve been rounding up apps for better biking. Do a little downloading and get ready to ride!
Wellness Wednesday: Slow Down
This time of year, things can’t help but move at lightning speed. If your to-do list is getting longer by the second and you can't remember the last time you took a vacation, now is the time to slow down. Not only is it good for the spirit, but your immune system will benefit from it too.
Wellness Wednesday: Pick Up Some Skills
If you resolved to learn something new in 2012 but haven't quite gotten around to it yet, now's the perfect time to get proactive. Turning the idea of education on its head and charging into the brave new world of community-based learning is a brilliant young company called Skillshare, and class is most definitely in session.
Wellness Wednesday: Change Your Story
We hear it all the time: "change your story, change your life." Sounds so simple, but it can be an overwhelmingly tall order if you're stuck in a rut. What if instead we were to focus on the minor narratives—the small-but-significant stories we’ve been telling ourselves for so long that we don’t even think of them as stories, but as second nature? Stories that we picked up somewhere along the way and ran with: I'm not athletic enough to work out or I'm not creative enough for a project like that.
